Looking for a really good place to eat Italian in Dallas? The brand new Saint Rocco’s New York Italian…
serves up delicious Italian dishes.
I was excited to try Phil Romano’s Saint Rocco’s because I take home dinner from one of his Eatzi’s Markets at least one night a week. Romano is a personal friend but I buy from Eatzi’s for one reason: the food is always good. I was pretty sure Saint Rocco’s would be too, and I was right.
From the manicotti appetizer…to the classic caesar salad…
flatbread with proscuitto & arugula…
and pasta with bolognese…
everything I tasted was excellent.
This is not a temple to the culinary arts of Italy. The food was fresh and authentic to the Italian homes along the East Coast like Romano grew up in. The Sicilian Lasagne, for instance, was the lasagne made on Saturday night with what was left after putting together the real lasagne for Sunday’s big family dinner.Of course I tried the chocolate cake and cannoli for dessert and both were delicious but the cannoli was outstanding.
Saint Rocco’s opens Thursday September 10 in the bustling Trinity Groves area. Romano says he believes Saint Rocco’s will be a “destination restaurant” and I agree. Just one caution, bring your appetite.
Enjoy,
