You might want to get all dressed up and take someone special here….

and it should be someone who really loves food.

Knife Chef John Tesar is controversial; he is a “Top Chef” contestant, a James Beard nominated chef, and Tesar knows how to put on a food show.  Tesar invited my pal from Good Morning Texas , Amy Vanderoef, and me for dinner.

The Knife dining room isn’t formal but waiters in white coats deliver huge platters of iced crudite to every table. You can order a Bacon Tasting served on a beautiful wooden slab for sharing.

There is Steak Tartare with oysters, and Yellowtail Tuna with Texas ruby grapefruit and avocado. Everything is turned out by an open kitchen that runs the length of the dining room, which was packed on a weeknight.

Tesar chose the dry aged bone in rib eye, mac & cheese and avocado fries for us and it was all delicious. Knife features all-natural born and raised Texas beef, pork and lamb.

You can bring someone who doesn’t eat meat here because there are lots of other offerings like pasta made in-house, fresh seafood and vegetarian dishes.

I had a wonderful time and I think the next time I have dinner at Knife I’m bringing my son, who turns 21 in October. He loves good food and some of his favorite shows are on Food Network and The Cooking Channel. Plus, he was a lineman in high school. I can’t think of anyone who would love Knife more.

Enjoy,
