I have to emcee an event on the red carpet…
which means I need a long dress.
I love to look at women in their beautiful evening gowns, but honestly I think they’re kind of hard to wear.
I’d like your help. I found these on theoutnet.com, a site I use when I need something nice but would like to get it for a decent price. These are still expensive.

Do you like any of them? Do you think any are worth the money? I still have a couple of weeks to keep looking.
If I have to get something long like this, I always try to make sure it’s classic and I’ll be able to wear for several years.
Please tell me what you think in the comments below.
Thanks,
# 1
Love # 1 but I think you would be more comfortable in # 3
Thanks Barb, I kind of agree:)
#1
that was easy!
#3 The color will look great on you.
I thought it was kind of a cool color too! Thanks:)
Thanks Danny!
You are quite welcome. I love blue. Sooooooooo. 😉
#2 – red has always looked great on you.
That’s so nice of you, I think if you get the right color red it looks great on almost anybody Julie
Have you tried rent the runway? My friends did it for our mom’s group gala and it’s pretty impressive. But I like the first one of these the best. 😉
Forgot about that Jamie, going to that tonight!
I believe that a mature wiman always looks more regal and poised in a gown with straps.
Thank you so much for the thoughtful comments Kelley:) Best, Jane
Definitely the red. Blondes always look beautiful in red.
Aww thank you Andy:) Jane
I agree with Julie, Red is your signature color
Thank you Veronica, appreciate your comment!
#3 is timeless but not so much on the color
Yes that’s kind of what I thought Deb, thank you!
#1
Thanks Kathy!
Jane, #3 is a great cut, but I think you would look sensational in the red. Can’t wait to see your final decision! Rent the runway is a great choice for locating something for this type of event. I think this cut/color would be very attractive on you: https://m.renttherunway.com/shop/designers/badgleymischka_dresses/corundumsapphiregown
Well…just caught up on your ‘what to wear’ post…my choice for you wasn’t a v-neck. 🙁 Still think it would be a great choice. 🙂 Am enjoying your blog, Jane.
Thanks so much Rosemary!
I’m going to check that out tonight Rosemary!
#1 and #3 are both stunning.
1 or 4. Going by color and style on you. With your coloring and hair. Stunning and classic.
That’s very nice Becky, thanks!
Me again…
Color of #1 is fabulous, like the cut of #3. I wore strapless once. (Note: one time, too much to fuss with….why chance!?)
Exactly Denice! Hi and thanks for commenting!
God blessed you with great legs. Show them off in the blue dress!
Thank you Kendal!
Jane, do not fear the train!! I wore a fabulous blue full length dress with small train and an asymmetrical neckline purchased at Nordstrom and the train was no problem. I’m about your age but not nearly in as good shape, plus they can hem a bit if train is too long (I’m 5’8″)
#1 is a classic beauty. They have ways of keeping strapless in place, you know ; )
Good to know Barbara, thanks so much. I’ll post what I wear!
I like all of the but #1 for the contrasting color of your hair. Once. You present all your final choices, I would like to vote again.
Ok Manuel, will do. Thanks for your thoughts!
Navy Blue or Orange.
The second blue with the rhinestones is ok.
Don’t like the red at all. Bunched up like a rag.
You could make any look good!
lol thanks Janet, you make a good point about the red, I just liked the color. Thanks!
Jane,
I think you would look good in any of them. However, I really like dress #1 most of all. Good luck and can’t wait to see which one you pick.
Definitely #1 or #3. Elegant, color-rich, and simple.
Thanks Susan! I like both those too, for the same reasons.
I like #1 and #4. If you really don’t want the train, or think it really might make you crazy by the end of the night, you might be able to have someone put in the hooks that allow you to make it a bustle. With that fabric it wouldn’t be big and poofy.
That’s a terrific idea! Thank you for taking the time to write. I think #1 is pretty stunning!
Celebrity Jane!
Red on Red equals nothing.
At least in art…
Mix black and red… rich.
Red carpet, black dress, blonde hair
one shoulder dress, one leg… Perfect!
