Fuller, thicker, longer eyelashes…

Isn’t that what we all want? But without the clumps of mascara and under eye smudges…

Women have a love, hate relationship with mascara. So an ad for “eyelash primer” in my inbox caught my attention.

Do I need “primer” for my mascara?

Here’s what Real Jane Beauty Editor Cheryl Crosby says. “Primers for mascara will make each individual lash seem thicker as well as keep your mascara from going everywhere…meaning from your eyelashes onto your face.”

I did a quick check and primers range from $25 a tube to just under $5 depending on the brand.

Perfect! But can I even swim or shower and not have to worry about mascara running? Well…not exactly. “The only thing that will help in water is waterproof mascara.” Cheryl said. “Primer does make mascara adhere better, but it will wash away easily.”

Still, if I can avoid those end of the day smudges,  I’ll give it a try.
