I used to never buy beautiful hydrangeas because they always wilted…

But I picked some up at the Kroger this morning because someone told me the secret to keeping hydrangea blooming for at least a week.

It’s the cooking spice Alum.

Hydrangea stems have a bad habit of closing when you snip them, and then they can’t get any water.

The Alum keeps them open…

And the hydrangea beautiful for days to come!
