I spent the weekend moving furniture and this is what I came up with!
Mixing old items with new, inexpensive pieces from second hand and consignment shops is one of my favorite ways to freshen up a room.
The pair of turquoise leather chairs is from the 1950s and used to sit in my bedroom but I like them in this light and airy living room.
I paid $100 at the Genesis Women’s Shelter Benefit Thrift Store at Lemmon Ave. and Knight in Dallas for the great metal table behind the sofa. Genesis is a great place to pick up pieces at terrific prices and the profits go to help families in domestic violence situations.
The faux leather turquoise ottoman beneath it and the lime green leather tray that ended up on my coffee table are inexpensive consignment pieces from Dulce Interiors & Consignment on Oak Lawn in Dallas.
Dulce also has lots of inexpensive ethnic pieces like this great red to freshen up a room.
I’ve gotten a number of wonderful pieces over the years at K.Flories Antiques on Camp Bowie in Ft. Worth. Kathy has beautiful pieces but they go quickly because they are reasonably priced.
table are great examples of the items Kathy carries.
I know some dealers who visit her shop weekly for bargains.
And a pretty bowl of fresh flowers is an inexpensive way to brighten up just about any room on a winter day.
Winter is a great time to browse all the fun second hand shops we have in North Texas. Those are some of my favorites, what are yours? Tell me in the comments below.
Have a wonderful day,
Jane, thanks for writing the short story on Uptown Consignment Fine Apparel. I had a consignor come in yesterday and consign some high end handbags. Grateful!!!
Cool! I’ll be in shortly, lol.
