I have so much to be thankful for…
One of the biggest things I am grateful for is a job where I get to meet interesting, funny, inspiring and often courageous people.
I am always in awe of how some people tackle life’s challenges. One of them is Madison Medrano, a woman I did a Starting Over piece on for Channel 8.
Madison got into the ring, literally, to help heal herself physically and mentally after a near fatal car wreck.
I talked to her just the other day. Here’s our conversation.
Madison, what are you especially grateful for this Thanksgiving?
This year I am especially thankful for my family’s good health. We have had some big scares this year but the Big Man up above has pulled us through. Our family and family friends also just celebrated my baby sister’s wedding last week! The event was absolutely gorgeous and filled with love. I am thankful my teenage daughter is now able to drive. She is a high school junior this year and is taking college courses as well; her life has become very demanding. I could not be more proud of her though!
So, what are you doing now?
What I’m currently doing — I am still happily managing sales operations and project management at McAfee, based in our Plano, Tx. corporate sales office. The role has grown in the past year, keeping me challenged and fulfilled professionally.
What’s new — I am now enrolled to obtain my Masters and am in the process of earning my scuba certification!
What have you taken away from all that’s happened to you?
This December marks the 7 year anniversary of my wreck. I look back on the events and recovery as one of my greatest challenges. Despite the long journey, I am thankful because it pushed me past my known limits and resulted in an even stronger version of me. A version that refuses to quit, practices MMA, mountain bikes, blogs and interior designs every chance she gets.
Good health, love and loyalty of family & friends, new adventures — I couldn’t be more thankful!
Thank you Madison, and all my best to you and your family this holiday season.

Enjoy,
That is an awesome story as well as the recovery.

Thank you Mike!
