Channel 8’s Chief Meterologist Pete Delkus is such a nice man!

When I was trying to get an interview with country music legend George Strait, guess who I called?

Pete had some connections and he happily tried every one of them for me. Pete is the type of guy who always calls back, or replies to your email.

Plus, he’s a great weather forecaster.

Like lots of us in TV, Pete is used to working on holidays…but he still loves to celebrate Thanksgiving with his family.

Pete, what are you especially thankful for this year?

Like most people, I have a lot to be thankful for but, I am especially thankful for my family.  I was raised that no matter what happens in life, you will always have each other and have found that to be true.  Now I continue that lesson with my children.  Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because it is the one time of year that the entire family (both sides of grandparents, siblings, nieces, cousin, etc.) gets to hang out, reminisce and enjoy each other’s company.

What’s your favorite part of the Thanksgiving dinner?

I am a total traditionalist so, I like a good old fashioned, traditional Thanksgiving dinner. When I was first married, my wife tried all these fancy recipes (butternut squash soufflé, brandied carrots, etc.) until she realized I just wanted the basics – turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, dressing and pecan pie.

But my very favorite part of the dinner, is my mother-in-law’s dressing…covered in gravy

Do you watch the Cowboys and eat a turkey sandwich later in the day?

I always watch the Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game. I save a big slice of pecan pie for the beginning of the game and a few select leftovers for the end of the game!

2014 has been a good year. My entire family is healthy and we’ll be together for Thanksgiving.
