to fun spots, where we don’t have to spend a lot of money!
A few weeks ago I decided to head out to Perini Ranch at Buffalo Gap. My friend Chef Stephan Pyles had told me about the restored “Camp House” he stayed in there.
I loved it! The little cabin is nicely decorated and has a comfortable king bed and a daybed, so it works for a small family. (There is a larger house next door for up to two families).
The cabin is sheltered by a canopy of live oaks and a gentle evening breeze blows across your covered porch.
I woke to a lovely breakfast and steaming hot coffee.
I would suggest an overnight. The award winning Perini Ranch Steakhouse is less than a half mile away for dinner, and the next morning you can drive into Buffalo Gap, where you’ll find a historic town center and a couple of shops that are fun to browse.
You can do the weekend getaway, including dinner, for less than $400.00. And you’ll feel a world away from the hustle and bustle of Dallas-Ft. Worth.
By the way, actor Robert Duvall likes to stay in the “Camp House”. Mr. Perini says he drinks sweet tea in his boxers on the front porch.
