I felt like I knew Betty Buckley, even though I had never met her before…

You never know what to expect when a “star” comes on set for an interview. Sometimes they are preoccupied with lots of other stuff, just do the interview and leave, which is understandable.

But Betty Buckley is one of those people who gives everyone her full attention from the moment she walks in the door.  You can tell she is genuinely interested in what everyone has to say.

She arrived at our Good Morning Texas studios about 10 minutes before we were ready to go on, and simply asked if she could pop into the restroom for a second to check her hair.  She didn’t even ask about a dressing room.

Because I have lived for the past several years in Ft. Worth I was curious about why no one had ever mentioned that “Betty Buckley lives on this or that street”… so I asked her what part of town she lived in. It turns out when she came home to Texas a little more than 10 years ago, she bought a ranch, where she enjoys her cutting horses. And after meeting her, I can just imagine her enjoying the outdoors and the countryside.

She gave me a big hug when she walked on to the set for her live interview and another when she left.

It’s not hard to see why so many of us feel such affection for “The Voice of Broadway”, Betty Buckley.
