Valentines Day has always been one of my favorite holidays, except that is …

for the ones where I didn’t get any candy. Those sucked.

I always thought Valentine’s Day was a day for lovers…and I guess it is. But this year, Valentines Day has a special meaning for me.

This Valentines Day I’ve really thought more about loving myself, and I hope maybe you will too.

The kind of love that lets you smile and embrace yourself when you make a mistake, or say the completely wrong thing on TV, and think “oh well, I tried”. The kind of love that knows you’re probably going to do at least one more stupid thing today, but that’s okay.

So why, you might ask, is the headline on this post My Funny Valentine?

Because that same kind of love lets you realize that even though your child did yet another dumb thing, it’s not the end of the earth, and you still love him, for just what he is. Because when you focus on having that kind of love in your heart you might find yourself smiling instead of scowling about the person in front of you in the grocery line who has the pink hair, or the 10 nose rings.

Because that kind of love leaves all of us happier at the end of the day.

And happier with ourselves, a Funny Valentine makes me smile.

Happy Valentine’s Day,
