My only son Michael turned 21 yesterday and I wanted to take him to my favorite steakhouse to celebrate…
There are so many good ones to choose from in our area.
But there is one where the Shrimp Cocktail is always icy cold and the Prime “Bone-In” Kansas City Strip is always perfectly cooked for my taste.
I’m a big fan of the traditional “steakhouse” and I love the food at the original Bob’s Steak and Chop House on Lemmon Ave. in Dallas. It’s just a great “special occasion restaurant”.
I like the Chophouse Salad but I always order The Wedge at Bob’s and it’s always just right.
My son ordered the Medallions of Filet with Bearnaise and Lobster Tail and every bite was delicious.
The Sea Bass was wonderful. And the sides, including Sauteed Mushrooms and Creamed Spinach are just the best!
I made a birthday cake and we ate dessert at home but if you saw the cake you would know why I didn’t want to take a picture of it. My icing…..melted! But it was good.
Bob’s is one of those restaurants I put in my “all time favorite” category. I know I’ll have a great time, get good service and the food will be terrific every time I go.
What’s your very favorite steak restaurant?
For our recent 20th weeding anniversary we tried Pappa’s Brothers Steak House on Lombardy Ln, what a treat!
In addition to the perfect steak, the lobster mac n cheese is incredible!
Happy 21st to you and your son – you made the journey – together!!
Thanks Darren! And thanks for the suggestion:)
I have to say I love Al Biernet’s for 3 reasons. The food and service are always perfect. AND, Al himself is a wonderful person. Always makes me feel very welcomed.
Thanks Sharon! Their food is great:)
I love H3Ranch in the Fort Worth Stockyards. Their T-Bone and Mop Steak (Sirloin with a special sauce) are both terrific. Great service and fun atmosphere!
Wow, that sounds delish Margo!
It’s a little quirky but I like Southern Junction in Royce City. They have this HUGE grill where you cook your own steak. You go the icebox and choose the steak you want. You have a choice of seasonings. You fix it just like you want and grill it to your preference. I love the Texas toast as well. The salads are good there and you also get to pick out your baked potato and load it up with the standard fixings. On Thursday nights they have country dance lessons so you can scoot your boots after dinner. Don’t forget Fridays where the steaks are 2 for 1 before 7:00 PM. That is a deal you can’t beat. This place is just fun and great for families IF you clear out before the drinking starts ; )))) Enjoy!
That sounds really good and fun thanks Mark!
Del Frisco’s Double Eagle, Fort Worth, is our favorite steakhouse. My husband has tried pretty much every meat they have… Not a bad one on the menu. I love the filet and their crab cakes. Their sides are to die for! Not to mention, they make one hell of a Sazerac!!
I like Del Frisco’s in Ft. Worth a lot. Thanks Karri!
Our last visit to Del Frisco’s in Fort Worth was disaster. They didn’t get a single course right, although the tough filet was possibly the most surprising. Definitely won’t go back.
Wow, that’s not good when you’re spending that much money Kynda!
Steak?
Look at those shoes! Fabulous. That’s the important stuff! 🙂
I was so busy looking at those beautiful legs that I completely missed the shoes!!
Haha thank you Brady:) and thanks for commenting!
Lol thank you Leanne, I do like those:)
Steiner Ranch in Austin is a very nice place, live music on the patio overlooking Lake Travis, the steaks and sides are the best I have had.
That sounds delightful!
i started to say I thought it was Micheals birthday, but I guess it was YOUR birthing day lol
Yes it was Robert, a very good one!
So glad you have this blog….love me some Bobs
Thanks for commenting Trayce, me too!
It’s our favorite too. Living in the “burbs” we usually go to the one in Grapevine, and have been to the one in the Omni Fort Worth as well….but even though the others are very, very good, nothing beats the original Bob’s on Lemmon!!
I haven’t been to the one in Grapevine John, but totally agree on the Lemmon Ave Bobs, thanks for the thoughts.
Beautiful picture! Happy Birthday Michael!!!! I love H3Ranch and Eddie V’s as well! My husband and I both think the cheeseburgers at Del Frisco’s Grille in downtown Fort Worth are the best! I have to say my best friend came over when he went on his golf tournament and I prepared the best steak. I saw it …I tried it…and it worked! You get the very best cut you love…I used tenderloin. Got it room temperature with sea salt and fresh ground pepper…sear it in 1 T. olive oil and 1-2 T. butter in an iron skillet on high heat for 2 min. per side. Put in a 400 degree oven for 10 min. and take out…cover and rest for 10 and yea! Special occasions are for going to one of the greats! But for a dinner party at home this was very nice. (Medium-Rare)
That sounds wonderful Renee!
We go to the one in Grapevine, I love their Lobster Bisque.
Ditto on the lobster bisque Patty!
Cool River in Irving.
I don’t know if you would call it a steak house, but they serve the best steaks I have ever eaten.
Anyway, happy birthday to you Michael.
Aww thanks for the birthday wishes Mike!
I remember sellin you Easter Baskets etc when they were much younger, 21 where does the time go happy days to you both
Jane, you must try Grapevine! I too took my eldest at 21 to Bob’s. Traditionally, I go every Wednesday night with “regulars” . Both my boys know that it is Moms night out. ( Don’t mess with mom on Wednesday 🙂 The food, staff and ambiance at Grapevine is unmatched by any place in town, including all the other Bob’s. Thanks for bringing the attention to a great Steakhouse and make sure you pop into “our” Bob’s soon. Have a Kelly Cosmo and visit with some of the best folks in the area at the bar and see our side of town.
You are making me hungry Kelly! Have a great weekend, Jane
It is a toss up.
Bob’s and Del Frisco.
Pappa’s is good but inconsistent lately
Jane you nailed it with suggesting Bob’s steak & chop house (lemon ave). I couldn’t agree more. I always order the bone in rib eye “cote De Boeuf”. The shrimp cocktail is plump, juicy and icy cold every time. I do like Pappas Brothers as well. They have the best lobster bisque, and the dining area around the fire place has the best “Texas” ambiance if you’re from out of town. Bob’s takes the cake, or the steak in this matter, but if you want to try somewhere else, Pappas is a close second in my opinion.
Steve Field’s in Plano.
Have to try that thanks Dwight!
