This is one of my very favorite restaurants to go to, and I’m not the only one!

Most nights, the tables are full at Nonna Tata, inside and out.

The restaurant is tiny and very casual…you sit on little barstools at one of the half dozen tables…and Giovanna, the chef, is likely to come out and say hello.

This reminds me a lot of a small restaurant you would find in a little town in Italy, and there’s a good reason for that. Donatella Trotti, the owner, is from Italy and most of the recipes are her Mom’s. In fact the night we were there Donatella was back in her Italian hometown.

And Donatella’s food tastes authentically Italian…whether it’s the anitpasti and caprese salad before dinner, or the calamari. The friends I took to dinner didn’t want to try to calamari, which is grilled like it’s often served in Italy, instead of deep fried. So I had to eat almost all of it. It’s just about my favorite thing on the menu, poor me!

Donatella’s involtini is to die for but all the pastas are good…we had lasagne and gnocchi also.

I passed on dessert but I’ve had the chocolate salami before and it’s a delightful ending!

This is one of the few restaurants I can go to and know I’m going to love what I order every time.

That’s the definition of my “Favorite Restaurants” here on Real Jane.

What about you? Where do you like to eat Italian? What’s your favorite little restaurant?

By the way, Nonna Tata only accepts cash.

Enjoy,
