“Count your blessings”…your Mom said it a million times. And today, I am!

I am so happy to tell you that I will be joining the Good Morning Texas team on a daily basis, beginning Monday, March 9.

WFAA Channel 8 has been a terrific place for me to contribute with Texas Legends pieces, as well as our Starting Over stories.

I am blessed to work in a business I love, and I hope to share all the exciting moments and people we meet on Good Morning Texas with you.

Here’s the official Press Release and I hope to see you every morning, beginning this Monday, March 9, at 9:00 on Channel 8.

For Immediate Release…March 4, 2015…Dallas, Texas…Longtime Dallas-Fort Worth television broadcaster Jane McGarry will join Mike Castellucci as co-hosts of WFAA’s “Good Morning Texas” on Monday, March 9.

McGarry has worked with the station’s daytime program since 2013, periodically presenting segments, including her “Texas Legends” stories. Now she will be featured on a daily basis on the one-hour program, which airs Monday through Friday at 9 a.m.

“I am excited to return to daily local television,” said McGarry, who has worked in the DFW market since the early eighties. “I am grateful for this opportunity to do what I love.”

McGarry brings an insightful and in-depth interviewing style to morning television with prominent guests joining her on the set.

“We are pleased to welcome Jane into this new role,” said Mike Devlin, WFAA President and General Manager. “The stories she has produced for GMT over the past couple of years have been interesting and engaging.”

During her 30-year career, McGarry has interviewed numerous national leaders and celebrities including former President George W. Bush, First Lady Laura Bush, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, Dallas Mavericks owner and entrepreneur Mark Cuban and country music legend Willie Nelson among many.

“I hope to make the show fun while also contributing something of lasting value to our viewers,” she said. “At this stage in my life and career, I’m committed to empowering people with ideas and inspiration and I’m delighted to be able to do so from the powerful platform of Good Morning Texas.”

Prior to joining WFAA, McGarry worked at NBC-owned KXAS-TV (Channel 5) from 1982-2012. In addition to her work in television news and her local lifestyle blog RealJane.net, McGarry is an active volunteer for causes helping victims of domestic violence and breast cancer survivors. She serves on the board of the AiRS Foundation, dedicated to providing women around the world access to reconstructive breast surgery.
