It’s the first weekend of high school football…and I get tears in my eyes.
How did it go by so fast?
I remember when Michael first started playing on Thursday nights in middle school. I was so proud to be his Mom. It seems like yesterday.
And then all of a sudden there he was, a big junior in high school, starting center and long snapper for the Ft. Worth Country Day Falcons, who won the conference championship that year. I remember looking out at my little boy, who stood on the field after the final game, with tears streaming down his face.
He was so happy. It was a happy moment for our whole family.
So to all the football Moms out there, and all the Moms and Dads whose kids will be playing in the band or on the sidelines cheering during this fun filled football season, enjoy every moment.
It goes by fast.

Hi Jane, I do miss those days! My son was not a superstar…he didn’t get a lot of play time so we were excited to see him on the field. He got the opportunity to play and what a surprise when the quarterback threw him a pass. As he came down with the ball in his hands, he was tackled with a helmet to the arm. He played one more play then came out because he had a broken arm. The good news was…he didn’t drop the ball. That made the break hurt a whole lot less. How wonderful watching these young boys as they have become terrific young men.
What a sweet story Bobbie, thank you 🙂
Love my boy. Just got home from his Freshman game. He rocks love watching him out there on the field 🙂
Love you Jane! Always enjoyed your years on channel 5. Remember when you were pregnant with Michael! My, how the years fly by. So glad you have been back on the air again.
